In the heart of Amsterdam, the city’s beloved movie theater 'City' had just reopened, its grand facade inviting us back after a long-awaited transformation. The venue, reborn with a glamorous new interior, beckoned like a scene from a classic film.
Thick dark burgundy curtains framed the screen, their luxurious folds adding an air of mystery and anticipation. The ocher tones of the walls cast a warm, golden glow, enveloping us in a cocoon of elegance and nostalgia.
We stepped inside, the excitement buzzing in the air, whether I was with friends or alongside my husband and kids—I can’t quite remember now. The details of the night blend together, except for the theater itself, which stood as a shining star of the evening. The movie we watched has faded from memory, but the feeling of being part of something special, in a place so beautifully restored, remains clear as day.
